Minnie Weld Funeral Services Held April 19:
“Funeral services for Minnie J. Weld were held Wednesday, April 19, 1978 at 2:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenent Church, Salem. Burial was in the Erik Olson Cemetery with Rev. Chester Pinkham officiating. The Kinzley Funeral Home of Salem was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Eldon Pearson, Sheldon Osterberg, Darrell Kirby, George Larson, Robert Schwader and Alan Moschell. The organist was Mrs. Eldon Pearson and duet by Harland Osterbeg and Mrs. Darrell Kirby.
Minnie J. Stangohr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Stangohr, was born September 8, 1888 near Hartford in what was then the Dakota Territory.
As a small child she moved with her parents to Lake County North of Salem. She grew up in the Salem area and on February 8, 1910, she was united in marriage to Mr. Fred Weld in Iowa. Mrs. Weld lived her entitre life in the Salem area where she and her husband farmed. Mr. Weld passed away on November 13, 1966. Mrs. Weld passed away at a Sioux Falls hospital on Sunday, April 16, 1878, having reached the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 8 days. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenannt Church of Salem.
Survivors include two sons, Robert of Bonesteel, S.D. and Wayne of Wenatchee, Wash.; four daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Ruth) Osterberg of Salem, Mrs. Walter (Caroline) Passe of Wabasha, Minn., Mrs. Everett (Ruby) Van Heerde of Sioux Falls, and Lois of Salem; 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest Stangohr of Howard and Frank Stangohr of Fulton, Missouri; and four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Frieda) Seuberling of Canova, Mrs. Ernest (Alma) Pecks of Madison, Mrs. Carl (Vera) Patro of Howard, and Mrs. Frank (Ida) Pamperin of Winfred. Preceding her in death were her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Wilma) Lyon, her parents, and seven brothers and sisters.”
