      Hommes, Bertha M., head, 65, born in Germany, widowed, naturalized citizen, occupation: none.

      From The Oklahoman newspaper, Sep 12, 1940: "Services for Mrs. John Hommes, 65, 949 East Drive, who was stricken with a heart attack Tuesday night in Seymour, TX, on a holiday trip, will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Watts Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
      "Accompanied by three traveling companions, Mrs. Hommes had stopped for the night en route here from a vacation in Carlsbad, NM, when she was stricken. She had been a resident here since 1910."

      From St. Cloud Times (Saint Cloud, Minnesota) 11 Sep 1940, Wed.
      "Mrs. John Hommes
      Mrs. John Hommes, a former resident of St. Cloud, died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. The message received by friends did not give information as to the funeral. Mr. Hommes who used to be connected with Security Printing company, died two years ago. One daughter, Renee, now Mrs. Ned Miller, lives in Oklahoma City."

      "Former S.F. Resident Buried in Oklahoma
      Mrs. John Hommes Dies in Texas—Brother Returns From Funeral
      H. G. Leubecher, Rt. 1, Sioux Falls, has returned from Oklahoma City, Okla., where he attended funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Hommes, 65, a former Sioux Falls resident.
      Stricken by a heart attack while on an automobile trip, Mrs. Hommes died at Seymour, Tex., and was buried at Oklahoma City.
      Born in Germany, she came to this country and to Sioux Falls in 1889. She was married here in 1893 to John Hommes, who was then employed as printer at Brown and Saenger. A few years later the couple moved to St. Cloud and in 1910 to Oklahoma City where Mr. Hommes operated a printing shop.
      Mr. Hommes died two years ago. One daughter also preceded the mother in death. Mrs. N. L. Miller, Oklahoma City, a daughter, survives."
