p. 510 (Translated into English):
When Anders Kolbeinsen and Gjøri Sjursdtr sold the farm shortly after 1850, Kolbein Anderssen got the deed for the most north half, #59B. Originally, the parent farm was called Klingholten; now Kolbein’s part of the farm came to be named Vik.
Kolbein married in 1856 Margreta Sophie Larsdtr who was 18 years younger that he. She was born in Bygd but grew up in Sørjorda. It was a short and childless marriage. Margreta died in the spring of 1859 just before she would have turned 23 years old.
Three years later, Kolbein married again. Edina Kristine Maas was originally from those people who ran the boat rental business at Alsvåg at the end of the 1700s and was the cousin of Stoltz-brødrene at Bygd. Her mother and Edina’s mother were sisters.
Kolbein and Edina ran a solid farm operation. In 1865 they had 1 horse, 7 cows, and around 15 goats and sheep. Ten years later, it was the same. To judge from the tax list, this couple were the best off of the Voss people on #59. For many years Kolbein paid twice as much tax as the average for Sortland.
The cultivated land near the farmhouse improved during the time Kolbein and Edina had the farm. When they sold it in 1899, they divided the farmland from their house evenly between their two sons. In addition, they divided out two smaller parts, one near Vik, #14, and the other near Fagernes, #15.
After the division, #4 got the name Holmvik. That is down the bay just below the farm. The island is today part of that which is Kolbeinøra.
Kolbein died in 1911, 92 years old. Edina was 16 years younger. She lived up until 1926. Then their unmarried son, Kolbein Jr. ran the farm. He emigrated in 1907 but soon came back. Kolbein Jr. was still unmarried when he died in 1961 and then #4 had the same owner as #13. [1]
