“Services for Martin Luther Ward, Jr., 83, retired San Diego attorney, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Saum & Knobel Mortuary.
Ward, a lifelong resident of the county, died Thursday in a convalescent hospital. He lived at 3175 Cauby St.
A graduate of Stanford University Law School, Ward began legal practice in San Diego in 1914. His father was a pioneer attorney in San Diego.
Ward retired from his firm, Ward & Ward, several years ago because of illness. The firm is now run by his nephew, Miflin Ward.
Ward served as an Army flight lieutenant during World War I. He was one of the organizers of the San Diego Country Club.
He was a member of San Diego Masonic Lodge 35, the Scottish Rite Bodies, Al Bahr Shrine and the University Club. He is survived by his widow, Dorothy; two daughters, and six grandchildren.
The family suggested donations to the Stanford University scholarship fund.
Cremation is planned.”
