"As a child he came to the Sandy River Township, now Farmington, Franklin, Maine., with his parents, and succeeded to the homestead farm, where he spent his active life.
He was famous as a trapper and hunter. A man highly esteemed by all."
"Samuel Lowell came as a child to the township, and succeeded to the homestead farm, where he spent his active life. He passed his old age with his children in Abbot, where he died, Sept. 5, 1862. Mr. Lowell was famous as a hunter and trapper, and had a most keen relish for the sports of the chase. He md., Dec. 22, 1803 (pub.), Elizabeth Bartlett of Mr. Vernon, who d. in 1815; he md. (2), Dec. 23, 1816 (pub.), Miriam Sherburne of Readfield; d. Aug., 1827. Nine children."
Lived with his daughter Sarah, at the time of the 1850 and 1860 census.
