Will:
I, John Lowell, of Farmington in the County of Franklin and State of Maine, being desirous to make a distribution of my estate in a manner different from what the laws would make it, declare the following to be my last will and testament:
First, I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Lois Bailey, seventy-five dollars.
Second, I give and bequeath unto Joshua L. Knowlton and Sylvanus Knowlton, sons of my daughter, Lydia Knowlton, deceased, five dollars each.
Third, My two sons Joshua B. Lowell and Benjamin Lowell, also my daughter Martha Ann Lowell, are affectionately remembered by me, but having heretofore done all for them that I consider proper for me to do for them, I make no further bequests to either of them.
Fourth, I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter, Emily Niles and child of my daughter Emily Niles, Ten Dollars.
Fifth, I give, devise and bequeath unto Barzilla Lowell, my remaining son all the rest residue and remainder of my Estate real and personal of every description and wherever found, after the payment of all of my just debts, the settlement of my estate and the payment of the before named legacies, which are to be in one year after my decease--It is further provided that if there is any property left after the decease of my son Barzilla, and the settlement of his estate, that the residue thereof be expended for fencing my family burying ground and the purchse of gravestones for my father and mother.
Sixth, I appoint William F. Lowell of Chesterville, Executor of this my last will and testament.
In witness of whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty two.

Sally Lowell was Reuben Lowell's second wife. They married on 10 Nov 1807. Reuben Lowell died on 1 June 1824. On 9 May 1825, Sally purchases outright her late husband's home farm in Chesterville from all of the children and their descendants born to Reuben Lowell and his first wife, Priscilla.
