    Notes
    • [NOTE: Great care must be taken to make sure that correct records are being used. There is also a Hiram M. Lowell, with very similar birth date, who was from Greenbush, ME, whose father is Eben Lowell. Numerous records have been found that have confused these two individuals. The Hiram Lowell who is son of Samuel Lowell never lived in Greenbush, Maine. “Hiram M. Lowell, son of Ebenezer Lowell, is the Hiram Lowell who lived in Greenbush. Hiram M. Lowell was not married to Louisa M. Harwood.]

This statement appears in “Historic Genealogy of the Lowells” describing, supposedly, Hiram Lowell 1830-1867. This statement is incorrect; it refers instead to the "Hiram M. Lowell" 1830-1913, who lived in Greenbush: "He was a soldier in the Civil War, 31 years of age, 14th Maine Inft., Co. "F", from Greenbush, Me.; corporal."

Early Chesterville Families from the earliest book of Chesterville Vital Records lists:

      Hiram E. b. 11-22-1866
Hiram Lowell d. 1-8-1867 (did not state which Hiram Lowell, later documents prove that this was the death date for the father)”

Hiram Lowell, 20, cabinet-maker, born in Maine.
