“Funeral Held for Orrin Page:
Funeral services for Orrin Page, veteran deputy clerk for Alameda County, were conducted yesterday afternoon at the Chapel of the Oaks under the auspices of the Oakland Lodge, No. 324, Loyal Order of Moose of which he was a member.
Page, who attained the age of 86 years, died at a rest home at 4120 Gilbert Street, Oakland, last Saturday morning following a stroke. He had resided there for the past four months following his retirement from the county’s employ.
The aged man was engaged as information clerk in the office of County Clerk G. E. Wade for the past 14 years. Previous to that time he was in the county employ intermittently since 1910 in various capacities.
A native of Maine, Page came to California 50 years ago. He resided in Oakland all of that time. He was known to thousands of Oaklanders, in all walks of life.
Before entering the employ of the county, he was engaged in the cigar business at a downtown stand. He entered this business after leaving the butcher’s trade.
Old-timers recall today that Page was never without a long black cigar and since his retirmeent he made regular visits to the Hall of Records here.
Yesterday many of his acquaintances quit work to attend the funeral services which were followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery. There are no known relatives.”
