"Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Buswell of Toppenish, Washington, are in the city visiting the latter's brother, H. Leubecher, who has been very ill with typhoid fever. Mr. and Mrs. Buswell expect to remain here for about a month. Mrs. Buswell will be better remembered here as Miss Kate Leubecher. Mr. Leubecher has so far recovered from his illness that he is able to sit up."

"When they first saw the streak of light across the sky at approximately 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Lt. Watson W. Flint and his father-in-law, H. G. Leubecker thought it was an airplane on fire, but they realized the streak of light was traveling much faster than a plane could travel.
'It flamed up and was very brilliant' Mrs. Flint reported.
The men were five miles southeast of Sioux Falls when they saw it. They later presumed it ws a meteor. It traveled from north to northeast and broke up in the east."

“Herman G. Leubecher:
“Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home for Herman G. Leubecher, 88, Rt. 1, who died Saturday evening at a Sioux Falls hospital.
“Mr. Leubecher was born July 23, 1884 in Sioux Falls. At the age of 4 he moved with his parents to a farm southeast of Sioux Falls. He continued to reside there until two years ago when he moved into Sioux Falls. He married Iva Florence Peterson on Sept. 15, 1914, at the farm home. She died Aug. 30, 1957 Mr. Leubecher had been active in civic affairs in the Harrisburg area.
“Survivors include a son, Rex, Rt. 1; a daughter, Mrs. Watson Flint, Peoria, Ill.; four grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Hansell Thompson, Camano Island, Wash.
“A Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. on Monday at the Miller Funeral Home.”
Death from bronchopneumonia, bilateral.
