  Notes	From findagrave information provided by Sue Shanahan Webb: “Louis is the 5th born child to Clark T. Webb (born 27 Jan 1834 - died 13 Jan 1925) and Harriet Lancaster. Louis married is first wife, Helen J. Martin, on 31 Dec 1890 in Elroy, Wisconsin. Helen Martin gave birth to his first three children: Clark, John, and Angela and died giving birth to their 4thi child in May of 1900 in Sioux City, Iowa. Louis met Marta and married her on 28 Jun 1902 in Sioux City, Iowa. Together, they had three children: Donna (born and died in 1903), Theodore and Verne. Louis wrote in the city newspaper, Grants Pass Daily Courier, under the pen name of “Phil Snort” and most of his articles were politically drive. Obituary: Illinois Valley News, Front Page 8-1-1946. Long Time Valley Resident Dies at 79 “Louis Webb, 79, of Elk Creek, one of the best known Illinois Valley, died Friday, July 26 at the Josephine General Hospital after a prolonged illness. Webb was born in Minnesota in 1867 and came to the Illinois Valley about 30 years ago. His philosophies were widely read in the News and the Grants Pass Courier under the name of “Phil Snort” in his frequent letters to the editors. He is survived by his son, Verne Webb of O?Brien. His wife died last year. Funeral services were conducted by the Grants Pass Elks Lodge Tuesday, July 30 at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Kerby.
