- Obituary: Helen Townsend, from Central Maine on Aug. 25, 2005:
"FARMINGTON- Helen Townsend, 88, lifelong resident of Stratton, died early Monday morning, Aug. 22, 2005, at Orchard Park Rehabilitation Center in Farmington.
She was born Dec. 29, 1916, in Wyman Township, a daughter of Elsie (Hines) Hobbs and graduated from Stratton High School. On Jan. 28, 1939, she married Vernon P. Townsend. He died Nov. 14, 1978.
She enjoyed beano, crossword puzzles and spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Currie of Eustis and Doug Townsend and his wife, Beverly, of East Dixsfield; one brother, Keith Seeley of Farmington; two sisters, Angie Campbell and Olive Simms, both of Massachusetts; six grandchildren, Pamela Lambert of Eustis, Doreen Copeland of Strong, Jill Ferland, Lori Shink, Amanda Townsend and Jessica MacDonald, all of Jay; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Bo Hobbs, Arthur Hobbs, Vera Reed, Eddie Seeley and Pat Seeley; and a granddaughter, Jody Townsend.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the New Town of Eustis Cemetery. Following services, a time of refreshment will be held at Trail's End Steakhouse in Eustis.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Townsend's memory to the Resident Activities Fund at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center, 107 Orchard St., Farmington, ME 04938.
Cremation and memorial services are being provided and cared for by the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service, and Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington."
