June 20, 2013 following surgery. Born Oct. 25, 1950 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to the late Everett and Ruby Van Heerde. Virgil was a veteran of the U.S.Navy. His career spanned 35 years in the reinforcing steel industry, the last 11 with CMC Fontana Steel. He was Commander for the American Legion Post 422 for several years. Surviving him are his wife of 42 years Arthura "Arty", and their sons and daughters-in-law, Jason Everett and Johnna Van Heerde, and his grandchildren Ava Ruby and Clark Everett; and Jeremy Arthur and Suzanne (Susie) Van Heerde and his granddaughters Ellie Nicole and Madison Marie. A memorial service will be held at 6:p.m.Tuesday July 2nd at Rialto Cemetery Park, 200 N. Willow, Rialto. A Celebration of Life will follow at the American Legion Post 422, 848 S. Lilac in Rialto. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 422 Scholarship Fund.
