“Nesemann, Jean Malcheski
Jean Malcheski Nesemann, 83, died of cancer, Sept. 29, 2006. She was born Jean Marcella in Pulaski, Wis., Nov. 17, 1922, to Edward and Angeline (Rozanski) Malcheski and raised on the family dairy farm untl she “ran away” to the one-room school across the road. After graduating from Pulaski High School in 1939 Jean attended the University of Wisconsin graduating in 1943 with a BS in Home Economics. She moved to Kewaunee in 1943 to teach Home Economics. Her students affectionately called her “Miss Mal.” She met Reynold “Bumps” Nesemann, MD, when the Principal sent her to the doctor’s office with a sore throat and fever. They were married June 29, 1946.
Jean was an avid golfer and a founding member of the Kewaunee Ladies Golf League and organized the bridge marathon for the scholarship program of the Kewaunee Women’s Organization. She was a charter member of the Kewaunee Women’s Bowling Association and helped reestablish the Kewaunee Girl Scouts, serving as a leader for 15 years. Jean was also involved with the American Field Service (AFS) hosting exchange students including Noel Chua and John Arne Warholm while they attended Kewaunee High School.
A member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she was a member of the Rosary Society, an alto in the church choir, and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis.
Jean is survived by her husband, Reynold; children, Mary (Hugo) de Pedro, Boston, Mass.; Jane (Roger) Lowell, Shoreline, Wash.; Michael (Susan), Lima, Peru; John (Val), Lostine, Oregon; six grandchildren Alisa de Pedro, Andrew, William and Elizabeth Lowell, John and Molly Nesemann; and four sisters, Doris and Mary, Pulaski; Helen, Campbellsport; Barbara (Gerry) Hussin, Shorewood; two brothers, Edward (Laverne), Madison; and John (Rene) Pulaski.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda (Ray) Liss and Emerine (George) Hughes.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Holy Rosary Church on from 2 p.m. 6 p.m., preceding the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.”
