“Alexander Feay
Alexander Nelson Feay, 91, of 401 W. Second St., formerly of 2521 W. Madison St., died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1993 in the Good Samaritan Center.
Mr. Feay was born Feb. 17, 1902, in Lyon County, Iowa. He attended country school in the Lyon County area. He moved to West Sioux Falls with his family in November 1919, when he was 17 years old. He operated a threshing machine in Lane and returned to work in his father’s garage.
He married Joyce L. Dodd on Oct. 27, 1925 in Lane. In 1936, they moved into their newly constructed house on Madison Street. In 1932, the West Soo Garage was renamed Feay’s Garage, after the death of his father. He operated the garage with his brother John, and with periodic help from family members until his retirement in 1968. The couple resided in the Good Samaritan Center.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls and was a life member of the International Order of the Odd Fellows.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Sioux Falls; one son, Larry and his wife, Myra, of Sioux Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Ervin (Joyce) Jensen of Beresford; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three brothers: Henry and his wife, Rose, of Hill City; John; and George and his wife, Violet, all of Sioux Falls.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday in George Boom Funeral Home, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today in the funeral home, with the family being present from 7;30 to 8:30 p.m.
Odd Fellows service will begin at 7 tonight in the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Good Samaritan Center.”
