She, along with husband, Martin, and her two children, Kelfred and Evelyn, were living with her brother, Arthur Vik. Also living with Arthur Vik were Helga's brother, Kalmar, her sister, Rachel, and her cousin, Harold D. Nelson. Funeral home notice for Helga Johnson: "Johnson, Helga. Tues. Nov. 3, 1970. Services at Wiggen & Sons Chapel, Wednesday. Evelyn recalled that she and Helga made two trips back to South Dakota, one in 1960, when Arthur drove, and one in 1965 when she and Helga visited. Death Announcement, Seattle Daily Times (Seattle, Washington) Tuesday, November 3, 1970: "Johnson, Helga age 82, of 109 N. 51st. Beloved mother of Miss Evelyn Johnson, Mrs. Hubert Carlson. Sister of Mrs. Rae Johnson, Mrs. Inga Latin, Arthur Vik, all of Seattle. Also three grandchildren, four great grandchildren. Member of Ballard First Lutheran Church.   		Vik, Andrew (originally Anders Martin Berg Kolbeinsen) and wife Karen Margarethe Hanssen. The couple originally emigrated in 1904 to Dell Rapids, South Dakota. Their five children emigrated to South Dakota in 1905. Karen and her children relocated to Seattle, Washington in 1928. Prior to their move to Seattle, Karen and Andrew had separated; Andrew went to Alberta, Canada and farmed. Photo found by Susan Woster Burgoyne at her great grandparents home (Johan Smevik and Hilda Hanssen) during her visit to Bjørnskinn, Norway in Summer 2018. Hilda Hanssen was a sister to Kristine Hanssen Olsen, mother of Harold D. Nelson.

After WWII and before Norway began to benefit significantly from North Sea oil discoveries, Norwegian life was difficult. In this letter, Emma asks her cousin if she has any extra clothing or curtains that she could send to Norway.
