“Final Rites Held Saturday for Mrs. John Ideker”
Last rites for Mrs. John Ideker were held Saturday in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Humboldt with Pastor Daniels officiating.
Clara Voelsch Ideker was born June 27, 1885 at Hartford, S.D. She passed away quietly early Wednesday morning, Feb. 3, 1965, in their home at Humboldt, having reached the age of 79 years. Her life was lived almost entirely in Minnehaha Countty and vicinity. She was a member of the Lutheran Church throughout her life. She was married August 15, 1905 at Hartford to John Ideker. Much of their married life was involved in farming. They retired some years ago, living in Madison, S.D. for a time. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Madison, almost ten years ago. They moved to Humboldt in 1962.
Blessing their marriage were eleven children. The oldest son, Howard, passed away in 1936. Her husband John and five sons and five daughters live to mourn her passing. They are: Lloyd, Elkhart, Indiana, Leonard and Ray of Humboldt, Lawrence oof Hartford, Curtis, Centrailia, Wash., Mrs. Ethel Dean, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Vera Adamson, Houston, Texas, Mrs. May Sutter, Sioux Falls, Mrs. Eva Eisenberg, Englewood, Colo., and Mrs. Jeannette Schievelbein, Appleton, Wis. Also left to mourn arre 27 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One great grandchild, Gregory Ideker, preceded her in death. She has a brother, William Voelsch, Watertown, and two sisters, Mrs. Adelia Cook, Salem, Oregon, and Mrs. Minnie Phillips, Carthage, Mo.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Hymns were sung by the Senior Choir acccompanied by Mrs. Alfred Johnson, organist. The ladies from the church served lunch before services for the family.
Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Sioux Falls. Pallbearers were six grandchildren: Donald Ideker, Ray Howard Ideker, Sidney Ideker, Gerald Ideker, Jack Schievelbein and Dennis Sutter.
All ten children were present for the funeral. Those attending from a distance were Pastor and Mrs. E. Baumann, Hebron, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lauck, Sioux City, Iowa, Mr. William Voelsch, Wilbur and Floyd Voelsch, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Voelsch, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Voelsch, Watertown, Mr. Andrew Hanson, Forman, N.D. and Mr.and Mrs. Ed Podliska, Ledgerwood, N.D.
The Miller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.”
