      Obituary: “The Minneapolis Journal, Saturday Evening, June 20, 1896”
      “Woodmen Will Attend:
      Nels Esper [sic] a member of Minnesota Camp, No. 1, Woodmen of the World, died yesterday. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon, at 3 o’clock, from his late residence, 262 Nineteenth Avenue S. All members of Camp No. 1 are requested to meet at Labor Temple tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock to arrange for the funeral. Members of sister lodges are invited to meet at the same place at 2 o’clock to attend the funeral.”

      From “The Minneapolis Journal, Tuesday evening, June 23, 1896, under the column “The City, Town Talk:
      Nels Espen, a member of Minnesota Camp, No. 1, Woodmen of the World, who died June 19, was buried Sunday at Lakewood cemetery. Funeral services were conducted at the residence of Rev. Mr. Vangsnes. The arrangements were under the auspices of Minnesota Camp, No. 1, Woodmen of the World, who conducted the services at the grave, assisted by Champlain Camp, No. 10. The deceased carried a policy of $2,500 in the order, which goes to the widow and four children.”
