Obituary, Council Bluffs Nonpareil, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Monday Evening, November 9, 1964:
"Herman Johnson
Herman Johnson, 67, 3410 Avenue D, died Sunday at a local hospital following several months of illness.
Born at Secor, Ill., he had resided more than 35 years in Council Bluffs. Mr. Johnson retired in 1962 after 30 years as a railway postal clerk.
He was a member of Dodge Memorial Congregational Church and the Railway Association of Postal Clerks. Mr. Johnson also was a member of Gen. Mathew A. Tinley Barracks 1086, World War I Veterans.
Survivors include:
Widow, Kathryn M.; two daughters, Mrs. Tal (Evelyn) Jones of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Richard (Georgia Lee) Longhom of Bothell, Wash.; two sons, Dwaine L. Plummer of Council Bluffs and Donald D. Plummer of Omaha.
Three brothers, George of Lamberton, Minn., Johannes of Council Bluffs and Harm of Marcus; three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Dunn and Mrs. Elsie Melvet, both of Omaha, and Mrs. Erma Wilcox of Marcus; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Meyer Chapel. The Rev. R. O. Barber, pastor of Dodge Memorial Congregational Church, will officiate. Graveside millitary services will be at the Logan cemetery.
The family suggested memorials may be made to the Dodge Church."
