Sonia Smevik, former national beauty queen of the Tip Toppers, is now Mrs. Stanley Howe Woster, Jr., following her recent marriage at the First methodist Church, Burbank.
Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Smevik of Burbank, and Mr. Woster Jr. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Woster of Los Angeles.
For the ceremony, the bride wore a custom gown with fitted lace bodice, high collar and a sweetheart neckline with a train of 30 yards of tulle over appliqued satin. She carried white orchids, carnations and stephanotis. Her attendants, including Joan Ross, maid of honor, and Bridesmaids Norma Allen, Pat Hart and Melody Morgan, were gowned in pale lavender nylon net over taffeta and carried yellow daffodils.
Ushers were Andrew Christopherson, William Garrett, Ray Lombardo and Brian Woster, and best man was James Woster.
After a trip to the Grand Canyon, the newlyweds will be at home in Los Angeles.
The bride who was graduated from Burbank High School, also attended Metropolitan Merchandising Institute. Mr. Woster Jr. attended the University of California at Berkeley."

When Stanley Woester [sic], of Los Angeles, takes Sonia Smevik, Burbank, as his bride in tomorrow evening ceremonies, it promises to be a king-sized affair.
Pretty Miss Smevik, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eilif Smevik, 1918 Landis St., was chosen as 1953 national queen of the Tip Toppers, the organization made up of women more than six feet tall and men whose heights are six feet four or more.
Woester stands six four, and the bride-to-be measures six feet one and a half inches.
The wedding party will include a maid of honor, bridesmaids, best man and ushers who are all members of the club. Shortie of the ceremony will be the bride's father, who is five feet eleven.
The 8 p.m. ceremony will be held at the First Methodist Church, 700 N. Glenoaks Blvd.
Miss Smevik graduated from Burbank High School in 1952."
Was divorced in the early 80's. Moved to Colorado Springs, where she was a real estate broker. Remarried briefly in Colorado Springs. Returned to San Diego County in 1989, deciding to be close to her children. Was a caseworker for the County of San Diego.
Returned to Norway in 1978. At that time, she had 2 living aunts and 2 living uncles and lots of first cousins. They flew to Oslo, flew on to Bodo, took a boat to Steigen, where one of her aunts lived and had a general store, then drove with tthe aunt and cousin up to Andenes, visiting Bjørnskinn also. Returned by car and bus to Fauske and then by train back to Oslo. Seventeen relatives (Sonia hadn't met any of them before) met them at the airport when they arrived in Oslo. Husband Stan and son Jonathon accompanied her on her trip. Husband Stan had stopped in Oslo during a business trip to Germany before Sonia's trip to Norway. He had looked up Smevik's in the phone book and located Sonia's uncle.
