Flanigan, age 75, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Estelline Nursing & Care Center. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown with Pastor Paul Janke officiating. Music will be furnished by Sharon Renner as soloist and Karen Livingston as organist. Burial will be in the Revillo Cemetery, Revillo, SD. Pallbearers will be Scott Voelsch, Wyatt Voelsch, Chad Voelsch, Jeremy Sederberg, Brian West and Nathan Shepard. Marian Jean Flanigan was born on December 31, 1937 to Floyd and Maythel (Jellis) Voelsch in Watertown, SD. She grew up near Lake Poinsett, SD and attended grade school at a country school near home. On March 10, 1956 she married Kenny Flanigan at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Two daughters, Colleen and Jodie were born to this union. Marian was employed at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown as a dietary aide and then worked at the Travelers Inn in Watertown for 10 years. She was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church. In her younger years she was a member of the South Dakota Paint Horses Club and had paint horses. She also enjoyed raising registered exotic goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks and guinea chickens. Marian is survived by her daughters, Colleen (Rick) Russman of Henry, SD, and Jodie Russman of Watertown, SD; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; her brother, Delwin (Bonnie) Voelsch, Gary Voelsch and Gene (Bonnie) Voelsch all of Watertown; her nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Larry Murdoff. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, and an infant son.
