"Elsie went with my father's mother [Mrs. Adolph Miller] to Parker after my Mother died. My dad's mother took her right after Mother was killed. So we were never raised together, except for some times in the summer she would come for two-three weeks."

Elsie V. Strobel:
Mankato--Services for Elsie Vera (Miller) Strobel, 87, Mankato, who died Friday, Dec. 23, 1988, at the Mapleton Nursing Home,will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Centenary United Methodist Church, Mankato, the Rev. Nancy Wheeler-Handlon officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato.
Visitation wiill be 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Landkamer’s Funeral Home, and one hour before services at the church.
Mrs. Strobel was born in Tea, S.D., March 31, 1901, to Max and Ida (Leubecker) Miller. She graduated from Parker, S.D., High School, and attended Mankato Business College. She worked in the office of the registrar of deeds in Fairmont, and later was secretary to the Martin County extension agent. She married G. Albert Strobel in Fairmont in 1923. They moved to Rapidan , where they lived for 10 years before moving to Worthington later, Owatonna. They moved to Mankato in 1940. Mrs. Strobel enjoyed raising fruit at her East Main Sreet Home, and had championship fruit displays at the State Fair for 10 consecutive years. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Strobel is survived by her husband, Albert; a son, Dr. Claire Strobel of rural Mapleton; a sister, Hazel Lowell of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.”

Assumed to have been taken sometime between 1909 and 1918. Identity of individuals not confirmed, but it is possible that they are Viola Miller Collins (woman in center of photograph), Elsie Miller Strobel (child next to Viola), and Augusta Miller, woman at far right of picture. Assumed date based on the fact that Elsie went to live with her grandmother in Parker after the death of her mother in August 1909. The 1910 U.S. Federal Census lists Augusta, Viola, and Elsie living at their home in Parker. Home was listed as being on 3rd Street.Millers and Leubechers, 1905
