Obituary: Miner County Pioneer, Howard, South Dakota, Friday Jan. 23, 1953:
Mr. Albert Haak was born near Roswell on September 13, 1896, and passed away at the age of 56 years, 4 months and 2 days.
He was baptised and confirmed in the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Howard and had been a lifelong member of that church.
In 1919 he was united in marriage to Emma Carls of Hartford, S.D.
He started farming 4 miles east of Howard in 1917 and has carried on farming operations there ever since.
Mr. Haak was a veteran of the first World War.
He is survived by his widow, Emma Haak, two daughters, Madeline Haak, Howard; Mrs. Evelyn Schuer, Sioux Falls, and one son, Albert, Jr. of Howard, and one granddaughter. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Bess Haak, Howard, two brothers, John, Winfred; Howard, Wessington Springs, and one sister, Mattie Koetbroth (?), Howard.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Haak, in 1929.”
