      Jeanne born at the Château de Fougères [ 2 ] , in Brittany , at an unknown date, the only surviving daughter and child of Raoul III , Lord of Fougères , and Isabelle de Craon . His paternal grandparents are Geoffrey , Lord of Fougères, and Mathilde de Porhoët, and his maternal grandparents, Amaury I , Lord of Craon (v. 1180-1226), and Jeanne des Roches (1195-1238), daughter of Guillaume des Roches , seneschal of Anjou , and of Marguerite de Sablé .

      Reign
      Jeanne has a brother, Jean, who dies shortly after his birth, December 6, 1230. Her parents had no other children, and Jeanne became heiress to the barony of Fougères . When his father died onFebruary 24, 1256, she takes the title of lady of Fougères . The same year, she ordered the expansion of the Château de Fougères , having the watchtowers of Mélusine and Gobelin added, as well as a reinforcement of the ramparts and gates. His efforts give better stability to the city.

      Widowhood and regency
      Shortly after August 25, 1270, Jeanne becomes a widow when her husband Hugues XII dies of the plague in Carthage during the eighth crusade , where he had accompanied Saint Louis. Jeanne was recognized as guardian of her minor children in April 1273.

      Will, death and burial
      Jeanne made her will on May 20 , 1269 in Touvre and died on an unknown date after 1273 . She is buried at Sauvigny Abbey .

      Jeanne had married, on January 29, 1254, Hugues XII de Lusignan , Count of La Marche and Angoulême . The ceremony took place in the Château de Fougères and was celebrated by the Abbé de Savigny , Étienne. Her marriage was registered on February 4, 1254.

      Hugues XII de Lusignan and Jeanne de Fougères are the parents of seven children:
      -Yolande de Lusignan (March 24, 1257-October 12, 1314), usufructuary Countess of La Marche, Angoulême (1308-1314), Lady of Fougères and Porhoët (1308-1314). She first married Hélie I er Rudel (av. 1260-1290), Lord of Pons and Bergerac; then in second marriage Robert de Matha, lord of Mornac.

      -Jeanne de Lusignan (c. 1263-5 Dec. c. 1323), Lady of Couhé and Peyrat. First married to Bernard-Ez IV (c. 1260-24 December 1280), Lord of Albret; then in a second marriage to Pierre de Joinville or de Genneville (c. 1255-1292).
      -Marie de la Marche (1265-ap.1312). She first married an English lord, Jean de Vescy (1244-1289); then she became Countess of Sancerre by her marriage to Étienne II (ap.1259-1303/06), Lord of Charenton. Without posterity of his two unions.
      -Isabelle de Lusignan (c. 1267 – 9 March 1323), nun at the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud.
      -Guy I of Lusignan (c. 1269-November 1308), Lord of Archiac , sometimes nicknamed Guyard. On the death of his brother, Hugues XIII le Brun (♰ 1303), he became Lord of Lusignan , Count of La Marche , Angoulême , Lord of Fougères and Porhoët (1303-1308) and took the name of Lusignan in the acts.
