      From the Oakland Tribune: Monday, April 1, 1946:
      “Mrs. Redfield, Bay Area Musician, Dies
      Berkeley, April 1--Mrs. Mabel Hill Redfield, 59, of 1319 Walnut Street, who for 35 years was organist for the First Congregational Church of Berkeley; died today at a local hospital. She collapsed during church services a week ago.
      A lifelong resident of Berkeley and Oakland, Mrs. Redfield was also an instructor of church music at the Pacific School of Religion. She was past president of the American Guild of Organists and past president of the Soroptimist Club of Berkeley.
      Surviving are her husband, Lowell, a retired concert singer; a son, Dr. Robert L. Redfield, Berkeley physician, and a sister, Mrs. B. C. White. Funeral arrangements are pending from the Niehaus Mortuary.”

      From The Oakland Tribune: Tuesday, April 2, 1946:
      “Funeral Held For Mrs. Redfield:
      Berkeley, April 2.--Private funeral services were held today for Mrs. Mabel Hill Redfield, 59, of 1319 Walnut Street, well-known Berkeley musician.
      Mrs. Redfield was organist and choir director at the First Congregational Church for 35 years. She died yesterday at a local hospital.
      Dr. Vere V. Loper, pastor of the First Congregational Church, and Dr. Laurance L. Cross, pastor of Northbrae Community Church, officiated at the services today. Mrs. Baldwin Woods, organist at Trinity Methodist Church, was at the organ.
      The services were held at the Neihaus Chapel.
      A memorial service for Mrs. Redfield will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the first Congregational Church.
      Mrs. Redfield, a lifelong resident of Berkeley and Oakland, was an instructor of church music at the Pacific School of Religion. She was a charter member of the Berkeley Women’s City Club, a member of the Alameda County Music Teachedrs’ Association, the Etude Club of Berkeley and the Berkeley Piano Club. She was past president of the American Guild of Organists and the Soroptomist Club of Berkeley.”
