From The Topeka Daily Capital, Friday, March 16, 1934:
"Solomon McGREW, 81, resident of Kansas 58 years, died Thursday morning at his farm near Perry. He was born in Pike county, Illinois, April 19, 1852, and came to Kansas in 1876, settling on a farm in Smith county. He moved to a farm near Thompsonville in 1890 and to the present farm near Perry 11 years ago. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Solomon McGrew, three daughters, Edith McGrew, Portland, Ore.; Florence McGrew, Topeka; and Mrs. Rebecca Webster, Redlands, Calif.; seven sons, Finley McGrew, Esbon, Kan.; Earl McGrew, and Isom McGrew, Topeka; and Carl, Dean, and Bryan McGrew, all of California; two sisters, Mrs. Will Edwards, Harrisonville, Mo.; and Mrs. John Good, address unknown; and a brother, Charles McGREW, Iowa.Funeral services will be at the Perry Methodist church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Perry cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Peebler mortuary until Saturday."
