    • “JEAN [I] de Ponthieu (-Acre 30 Jun 1191). "Wido comes Pontivii" confirmed freedoms over his lands, with the consent of "patris mei Willermi et domine Ele matris mee, fratris mei Johannis et uxoris mee Ide et filii mei Johannis" by undated charter. Robert of Torigny records that Henry II King of England granted "castrum Alenceium et Rocam Mabiriæ" to "Willermus Talavacius comes Sagiensis et filius eius Johannes et iterum Johannes nepos eius filius Guidonis primogeniti sui comitis Pontivi" in 1166. He succeeded his father as Comte de Ponthieu. Robert of Torigny records the death in 1171 of "Guillermus Talavercius comes Pontivi" and the succession of "Johannes nepos suus…ex Guidone primogenitor suo". m firstly MATHILDE, daughter of ---. The primary source which confirms her marriage has not yet been identified. 1162. m secondly LAURE de Saint-Valéry, daughter of ---. The primary source which confirms her marriage has not yet been identified. m thirdly (beforore 4 Dec 1170) BEATRIX de Saint-Pol, daughter of ANSELME "Candavène" Seigneur de Lucheux et de Tarentefirt [later Comte de Saint-Pol] & his first wife --- (-1202 or after). "Johannes comes Pontivi" confirmed rights of the monks of Val, with the consent of "Guidonis fratris mei et Beatricis comitisse uxoris mee", by charter dated 1177, which also names "mater mea Ida comitissa". The primary source which confirms her parentage has not yet been identified. Comte Jean [I] & his third wife had four children:
      a) ADELA de Ponthieu (-after 18 Oct 1241). Letters dated 1178 confirm the marriage of "comes Pontivi filiam suam Edelam" and "Renaldo filio Bernardi de Sancto Walerico", with the right of substitution in case either party died before the marriage. The death of Renaud before the marriage took place is indicated by the charter dated 1205 under which "Thomas de Sancto Walarico" promised service to "fratrem meum et dominum Willelmum comitem Pontivi". Dame de Saint-Aubin. Betrothed (contract 1178) to RENAUD de Saint-Valéry, son of BERNARD Seigneur de Saint-Valéry & his wife ---. m (before 1192) THOMAS de Saint-Valéry, son of BERNARD Seigneur de Saint-Valéry & his wife --- (-before 1220). Seigneur de Saint-Valéry. The agreement between "dominum comitem Pontivi et Monstreoli" and "dominum Thomam de Sancto Waleriaco" is confirmed by charter dated Sep 1209. An agreement dated 1209 between "dominum comitem" and "dominum Thomam de Sancto Walerico" refers to the marriage of the latter to "domine Edle sororis sue" and also names "Bernardus pater suus". Thomas & his wife had one child:
      i) ALIENOR de Saint-Valéry (1192-15 Nov 1250). Dame de Saint-Valéry. A charter dated Dec 1220 issued by "Robertus comes Drucocensis, dominus Sancti Walerici et…Aaenors uxor eiusdem" relates to rights of navigation. The necrology of the Frères Prêcheurs de Chartres records the death "15 Nov" of "Aanor comitssa Drocarum et domina Sancti Valerici". m firstly (1210) ROBERT [III] "Gasteblé" Comte de Dreux et de Braine, son of ROBERT [II] Comte de Dreux & his second wife Yolande de Coucy (1185-Braine 3 Mar 1234, bur Braine). m secondly (1237) as his second wife, HENRI I Sire de Sully, son of ARCHAMBAUD [IV] Sire de Sully & his wife Lucie de Charenton (-after 1248).
      b) GUILLAUME [II] "Talvas" de Ponthieu (after 1178-6 Oct 1221, bur Abbaye de Valloires, Somme). His parentage is confirmed by a charter dated Mar 1215 under which "Willelmus comes Pontivi et Monstreoli" confirmed property rights of the church of Saint-Valéry granted by "Johannis comitis Pontivi patris mei et Beatricis matris mee et mea". He succeeded his father in 1191 as Comte de Ponthieu.
      c) MARGUERITE de Ponthieu . The primary source which confirms her parentage and marriage has not yet been identified. m (1209) ENGUERRAND de Picquigny Vidame d'Amiens, son of --- (-[Jun/Nov] 1224).
