Remembrances written by Nancy Rae Miller, daughter-in-law, in December 2014:
"Maurice died 10/7/1982. He was a very active man, had the most gorgeous garden, looked like it came out of a magazine. Alice and Maurice were married June 1932, in the morning, and went to work at noon at the Deckers Meat Packing Plant. Alice said they made 20 cents an hour. They also built their own home by themselves. Always took relatives in when they needed a place to stay, Grandpa Paul was one of them. Also Alice's mother and father, her sister Norma, Eleanor.
"Maurice was a milkman, worked for the junior college as a custodian and for the Mason City Schools as a custodian. He loved clothes and was always coming home with something new. He hated old things so when Greg and Nancy got married, we took the trunk from their home, that the Millers brought their belongings over from Germany in, still have it in our living room. The mate to it, Maurice told us, his aunt from Phoenix, AZ [Viola Collins] gave it to the Arizona State Museum.
"Maurice was very close with his brothers and sister. And always went to visit them when he could..."
