“Warner Edmonds Jr.
“Memorial services for Warener Edmonds Jr., an attorney here and resident since 1929, who died Saturday in his home, 565 Picacho Ln., after a lengthy illness, will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in All Saints Episcopal Church. The Rev. George J. Hall will officiate. Private interment will be in Santa Barbara Cemetery.
“Mr. Edmonds was born April 7, 1910, in San Diego, the son of Warner and Martha Edmonds. He was raised in San Diego and came to Santa Barbara with his family in 1929. He graduated from Stanford University in 1931 and while an undergraduate was chairman of the Men’s Council, captain of the golf team and a member of the Phi Phi Honor Society. He received his law degree from Stanford in 1934.
“Upon graduation he returned to Santa Barbara to join the firm of Heaney Price & Postel and became a state inheritance tax appraiser. During World War II, he was commissioned in the U.S. Navy. After serving in Washington with the OPA he was in Air Combat Intelligence in the Pacific Theatre. He received the Air Medal. Following the war, he returned to Santa Barbara.
“Mr. Edmonds was active in vartious civic organizations over many years. Additionally, he was past president of the Valley Club and past golf champion of the Valley Club. He was a member of All Saints by The Sea Episcopal Church.
“Mr. Edmonds is survived by his wife, the former Helen Carr whom he married in Santa Barbara in 1937. He is also surved by three daughters, Mrs. Ann Spencer of Greenwich, Conn., Mrs. Margaret Trebell of New York, and Mrs. Jeanne Leen of Charlottesville, Va.; and six grandchildren.
